The College of Engineering, serving as an engine of growth for the Gwangyang Bay Area, is carrying our large-scale national projects worth over KRW 70 billion and is developing experts who have creative and "glocal" abilities to solve problems and to lead research activities in the Area through active academia-industry cooperation.
The Department of Environmental Engineering aims to develop competent human resources and manage the environment of the East Jeonnam area (Suncheon, Gwangyang, and Yeosu). Environmental engineering is crucial to control and treatment of increasing environmental pollutants as our society is becoming ever more complicated. Consumers strongly urge enterprises to be more responsible for the environment. Considering these circumstances, the Department combines engineering theories with knowledge of natural science, cultural science, and social science so that the students can acquire basic principles and on-the-job capabilities of air quality control, water quality control, waste treatment, ecological preservation, soil and underground water pollution treatment, and noise/vibration control.
